If you are 70½ or older and have an IRA, you are already qualified!
“The QCD process is so simple, making it easy for me to give to A.R.E., my favorite charity, whose mission I wholeheartedly endorse.”
— Clark Wicker, QCD Donor
How a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) Works
You are 70½ or older and have an IRA
Make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your IRA
Your QCD goes directly to charity, supporting a cause you care about
*If you’re 70½ or older, you can give directly from your IRA to A.R.E., and the gift isn’t counted as taxable income. Once you reach the age when required minimum distributions begin (73 for most donors today), your gift can also count toward your RMD for the year. Ask your IRA custodian to send the gift directly to us, and talk with your tax advisor about your situation.
Did You Know?
You can also support our mission for years to come. It’s simple to do and can be changed at any time: simply name Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. as a beneficiary of your IRA account. The remaining assets, or a portion of them, will then be distributed to help people transform their lives for the better.
Sample Beneficiary Designation
Legal name: Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. – Association for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.
Address: 215 67th Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23451
Federal Tax ID number: 54-0573802
If you’ve already named A.R.E. as a beneficiary of your IRA, we hope you’ll take a moment to complete our Gift Notification form. Information that you voluntarily provide about your gift allows us to be the best possible stewards of your legacy.

Keep the Cayce Work Alive
When you make a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA to the A.R.E., you ensure the light of Cayce’s readings stays bright for future generations of seekers.
Reduce Your Taxable Income if You’re 73 or Older
When you take funds from your IRA, they count as taxable income. But if you transfer them directly to the A.R.E., you reduce your taxable income while satisfying your RMD.
Fulfill Your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)
After you turn 73, you must distribute funds from your IRA. If you do not distribute the required minimum, you may be penalized, but a QCD allows a transfer up to $111,000 per individual or $222,000 per couple to satisfy your RMD.
